I had the chance to play several times in Estonia, first as a duo with my friend Christophe Godin (gt) in 2007, then with my trio Melody Makers (2012). A friend from there introduced me to the folk songs of the national composer Raimond Valgre (1913-1949) and I wanted to adapt some of them in my own way!

J'ai eu la chance de jouer plusieurs fois en Estonie, d'abord en duo avec mon ami Christophe Godin (gt) en 2007, puis avec mon trio Melody Makers (2012). Un ami de là-bas m'a fait découvrir les chansons populaires du compositeur national Raimond Valgre (1913-1949) et j'ai eu envie d'en adapter quelques-unes à ma façon !

Mary Halvorson is a genius composer and guitarist who has developed her own musical language, and with Code Girl she has incorporated poetry into that language. Incredible compositions and lyricism (each track is a different kind of poem). Halvorson's playing is as great as usual, and all the other members of the band sound great. Robert Wyatt's singing in particular works extremely well in the tracks he's featured. Highly, highly recommend. rat
